Abstract
The article describes an attempt of use of linguoculturological approach in theory and practice of translation. Linguocultural principle seems to be useful when translating words, which mean national-specific concepts. Diminutiveness is considered as one of the dominant categories of Russian language and Russian linguistic world view. The author divides Russian diminutives into different types according to their speech functions and analyses the ways of their translation into German.

Abstract
The present study is devoted to the analysis of the most frequent lexical changes in pragmatic adaptation of modern newspaper headlines translated from English into Russian. The study revealed that, from a lexical point of view, the most significant today are such translation methods of text adaptation as explication (introduction of additional information), omission (omission with substitution), specification, generalization and transliteration. The article gives examples of modern headlines and analysis of the use of certain translational transformations in pragmatic aspect.

Abstract
The relevance of Article is due to the increased demand for high-quality translation of foreign films about war. The classification of the most common translation mistakes is considered in the Article. Examples of these mistakes in the translation of military terminology from English to Russian are analyzed. Data for study is the American series «Band of brothers». The Article focuses on the need for translator`s competence in the specific military translation sphere.

Abstract
English is classified as an analytical language, which means that it has fixed word order. Therefore, deviations from traditional word order usually serve for a specific purpose. Inversion can be caused by grammatical reasons or be used as a stylistic device that increases expressiveness of the sentence. It is a challenging task for a translator to find the right way to keep this expressiveness while translating because in Russian language inversion is not equally noticeable. There are various techniques which we will discuss in this article using a novel by J.R.R. Tolkien “The Lord of the Rings” as an example.

Abstract
The article studies the vocabulary and spelling of the American standard of English literary language. The study is conducted on the basis of two stories of the collection "Night Shift" by Stephen King. The analysis includes the disclosure of examples of words and expressions. There is also a comparison with their British equivalents. In addition, at the end of the article the statistics of the frequency of the use of colloquial and slang statements in the first and second stories is given. Based on this we can judge the breadth of styles within the oeuvre of one writer.
