THEORY AND METHODOLOGY OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
The article deals with enhancing lexical competence of the students on the basis of modern language corpora. The author defines the notion ‘corpus’ in research, summarizes the views on importance of using corpora for linguistic and pedagogical purposes, analyzes the data of three modern English language corpora for improving lexical knowledge of the students. The article contains a complex of exercises which enables students to enhance lexical competence in semantics, collocations and pragmatics.
The article provides an overview of modern visual aids in the digital environment, which can be used in teaching foreign languages. The author adheres to a broad interpretation of the concept of visibility, highlighting different types of visual aids depending on their material form of presentation. The relevance of the use of digital visual aids is substantiated by the dominance of a new type of perception and processing of information among the modern generation of students. Examples of digital visual aids are given. The possibilities of their use in the process of teaching a foreign language and its development by students are described.
This article examines the category of «secondary linguistic personality» as an object of interdisciplinary research. A linguoculturological approach to language learning is proposed. The difficulties that English teachers face in practice during the implementation of the task of forming a secondary language personality are considered.
The present article examines the influence that the digital transformation process exerts on the university educational environment. The paper delves on the palette of digital technologies and educational solutions of the digital transformation in the education sector. Specific examples of digital solutions and tools which are widely accepted and actively used in modern pedagogical practice for revising and updating the current professional education programs are provided to illustrate the comprehensive approach to education. The paper raises the question of the possible impact of digitization on psychological safety of the educational environment taking account of cognitive, emotional and psychological parts of the educational process. It also reveals the positive and negative affect the digital educational products have on educational activities of students.
GENERAL AND APPLIED LINGUISTICS
The article covers the issue of rendering proper names in translation of literary works. The issue requires complex coverage concerning lingvocultural features of a proper names along with its functions being performed in a literary work. Moreover, the translation of proper names involves not a single translation strategy. The existing methods of proper names rendering to be applied are usually combined with others. The material for the study were the proper names determined in the novel The Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and its translation into Russian. The study describes the most used methods to translate proper names revealed in novel’s translation from English into Russian concerning their structural, semantic and cultural characteristics.
This article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of emotional concepts based on the themes of sentimentality in the literary works by the Irish poet T. Moore. The practical study of emotional concepts based on the linguistic material of a particular language represents an important component of linguistic knowledge overall, providing an opportunity to consider different spheres of the emotional world of a person at a deeper level. Linguocultural analysis of emotional concepts allows us to classify some distinctive components of associative series, as well as the features of the use of concepts in oral and written speech. The research of the emotional concepts in poetry gives the possibility to reveal some linguocultural peculiarities of concepts, conditioned by the author’s individual and cultural properties of the analysed works. In the present study, the analysis of emotional concepts is performed in the linguistic and cognitive paradigm and implies the identification of specific semantic and syntactic valence of emotion nominants in the collection of poems “Irish Melodies” by T. Moore.
This article is devoted to the use of grammatical metaphor as a stylistic device in the English language and focuses on the textual functions of grammatical transposition. There given its variety of forms considered as well as their linguistic characteristics within the morphological categories. Thus, the examples of this stylistic device from “The Forsyte Saga” novel series by J. Galsworthy are reviewed to that end.

The distinctive features and values of generations, as well as the reasons for their formation, are considered. Mostly questions about representatives of Generation Z are considered. The aspects of the modern generation are compared with those preceding it.
