Lexicographical Reflection of the American Standard of English Literary Language in the Short Stories of Stephen King from the Collection “Night shift”
Abstract
The article studies the vocabulary and spelling of the American standard of English literary language. The study is conducted on the basis of two stories of the collection "Night Shift" by Stephen King. The analysis includes the disclosure of examples of words and expressions. There is also a comparison with their British equivalents. In addition, at the end of the article the statistics of the frequency of the use of colloquial and slang statements in the first and second stories is given. Based on this we can judge the breadth of styles within the oeuvre of one writer.
